Shared Visions for Shared Success and Prosperity
Key Concepts
Sustainable development: Sustainable development has been defined as development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): The 17 Sustainable Development Goals, also called the Global Goals, are a set of several and interconnected targets set by the United Nations, serving as a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure peace and prosperity for all. These 17 goals are interconnected and aim to balance social, economic, and environmental sustainability, covering areas such as no poverty, zero hunger, good health and well-being, quality education, gender equality, clean water, affordable energy, and climate action.
Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17): The UN SDG 17, Partnerships for the Goals, recognizes that no country, organization, or individual can reach the SDGs alone. It calls on government, the private sector, civil society, and citizens to work together, across countries and sectors, to deliver all 17 SDGs.
CSR: CSR, or Corporate Social Responsibility, is a global commitment and also a inspiring business model where leading organizations integrate social and environmental concerns into their daily operations and interactions with all their stakeholders. It’s a self-regulating approach where a company commits to behaving ethically and contributing positively to society, the global economy and the environment, going beyond just legal requirements and profit generation.
ESG: ESG stands for Environmental, Social and Governance standards, three key criteria guiding responsible decisions that create lasting value for people, planet and prosperity.
Synergies: Interaction of two or more parties (organizations or individuals) to drive tangible added-value through cooperation to produce a combined effect greater than the sum of individual efforts.
